Logo Design
The logo created focuses on a minimal, monoline lettermark incorporating the initials of the business name. A heavy but elegant looking font was chosen for the ‘Nichol Smith’ text to contrast with the minimalism of the mark and sub text, while portraying the quality and trustworthiness of the company.
The logo was designed with a variety of applications in mind. The responsive variants and alignments mean it isn’t limited in how and where it can be used.
Brand Elements
The brand colours were chosen to represent the high-end, quality service of the business. The green, gold and grey colours are symbolic of trustworthiness, wealth and solidity respectively.
Playfair Display was selected as the primary typeface for the Nichol Smith brand due to its elegant yet distinctive features. Raleway is the secondary font that offers a clean and minimal option with a wide variety of font options to choose from.
A simple geometric pattern was also created to add text texture and break up empty space where needed throughout their branding.
Web Design
I was also tasked with designing and building an informational website about the company on a platform that the client could also access and easily add content with.
The final design centres around a clear and easy to navigate auto-scrolling homepage, detailing all key aspects of their services. The visuals of the site utilise heavy spacing and minimal styling to reinforce their visual identity and keep the pages simple to use.
It also features dedicated pages housing blog-style posts on all of their recent projects, as well as news articles that are continually added to by the client. I opted to use WordPress as the platform for the site to gain lots of flexibility the design and features of the site, while still being able to offer an intuitive blog post interface to the client.
Brand Collateral
Once the logo and brand style were developed the next task was producing a range of branded collateral including stationery, lanyards, branded notebooks, a banner advert with the scope to be used on a billboard and branded clothing for staff.
Print Design
I undertook the design of an informational flyer that was also featured as a full page ad in a local directory magazine, The Murrayfield Grapevine. Following this I designed an investor guide booklet that was also used as an online download.
Social Content
I created a series of property case study carousels for the company’s LinkedIn profile, custom icons for their Instagram story categories as well a series of reusable templates for their Instagram carousel and single post content.
